40 Over Match Reports
Allsvenskan We are now more than half way through the 40 over season, sitting on 2 wins and 1 loss. With Wynand unable to travel to Umeå and later sustaining a small injury, Aritra has taken the captaincy for this part of the season. Here is how our matches have gone so far: *Umeå* For our first game we travelled to Umeå with a relatively new squad. On a damp outfield we lost the toss and were sent in to bowl first. We started off sisådär leaking a few runs but Sesanka taking two spectacular catches at long on meant we were in with a good chance, with Umeå at 58/2 after 8.6 overs. From there we bowled tightly in spells, especially the spinners, and had them 160/7 after 31 overs. A late partnership meant the opposition managed to get to 216 all out after 38.4 overs. Nasim bowled well getting 3 wickets, as well as Shravan and debutant Pankaj who got 2 wickets each. Deepak also bowled a very economical spell only giving 25 runs off his 8 overs, somehow not getting a wicket. Batting-wise, we got off to a bad start with Aritra getting out with no runs on the board. Nevan and Deepak stabilised the innings. After 23 overs we were at 125/3 and all the momentum was with us needing less than run a ball. Shravan batted well making 51(46), getting off to a flying start and seeing out the tricky leg spinner Umar. However, a classic DIF collapse meant we ended up making 173 all out in 33.5 overs. *Hammarby* Our second game was against Hammarby which was played in Skarpnäck. With half of the Skarpnäck outfield resembling a swamp we decided to bowl first after winning hoping it would dry up. Hammarby got off to a good start, helped partly by some controversial lbw decisions and poor fielding. Asim got the first breakthrough in the 18th over taking the wicket of Sadat, with Hammarby on 95. Wickets fell here and there but opener Rahel kept ticking over the scoreboard. Shravan finally got Rahel caught at long on at 138/4 after 25.6 overs. After that we made quick work of them with some clinical bowling and fielding, including a direct hit from Anvesh standing at the sweeper cover boundary. Hammarby ended on 161 all out from 34.1. Shaurav ended with figures of 6.1-0-30-3, with Asim and Shravan also bowling economical spells and getting 2 wickets apiece. In the batting innings we failed to start well again with both openers Raz and Aritra getting out quickly. Shaurav steadied the ship with a brilliant 50 including 3 6's, but we were in trouble after Shaurav, Asim and Deepak got out in the span of 5 balls, leaving us at 74/5 after 16.2. In came Karthik to save the day smashing a chanceless 61*(33) with some huge sixes, together with Shravan who kept the score ticking along. In the end we chased down 162 winning by 5 wickets with 15.1 overs to spare. *SMI Mavericks* The last game we played was against SMI Mavericks on a tricky wicket in Norsborg. Again with some puddles on the outfield and the uneven pitch we decided to bowl first. Shaz and Asim bowled tight opening spells which meant SMI were 7/0 after 8 overs. After that the spinners came on bowling and continued bowling tightly, with Shaurav getting the first wicket before having to stop due to a small finger injury. Wickets kept falling regularly and SMI were 47/6 at drinks after 20 overs. The opening bowlers were brought back on soon and SMI were all out for 76 after 27.3. Standout for the bowlers was Shaz with figures of 7.3-2-9-3. Deepak also got 3 wickets, and 4 bowlers were bowling at an economy of 2 or under. With a low total to chase, we came in to bat with confidence. We chased 77 in 17.3 overs, with Nevan carrying his bat making 23*(46). *To come* We now have 2 remaining games against Tigers and Super Kings in the regular season, which are must win. At this stage it is unclear however whether just the table toppers or top 2 go through to the finals, but regardless we are in with a good chance. 2nd Team In our first match of the 40 over season, we faced Sky Sports Club in Kungsängen. On a damp morning, captain Karthik lost the toss and was put in to bowl. Nasim bowled a fiery opening spell to dismiss the openers, before Shrikant took a further three with a fine display of accurate legspin. Sky Sports were in further trouble when they lost two more wickets in an over to Karthik, our sharp fielding effecting a run out. This left them 99/7 after 16 overs, which was pretty good going considering that the balls were now starting to resemble bars of soap. Unfortunately, we were unable to wrap up the innings, however, and their number 7 batter smashed 75 off 43 to almost single-handedly propel them to 206 runs before Nasim returned to knock back his off peg. Our game plan going into the innings was clear: they had only managed 31.2 overs, and the run rate required was only 5 an over, so if we managed to bat our 40 overs we would probably win the game. However, all did not go to plan and soon we were 13/2. Henry and Andy counter-attacked, before Karthik hit some big blows, but wickets continued to fall all too regularly and soon we were 65/5 after 12.3 overs. Debutant Shreyas was now joined by regular first teamer Aritra and they set about restoring calm and put on a fifty partnership, Shreyas scoring 30 and Aritra 44. However, they fell in quick succession - Aritra to a freak delivery which stayed low and cut back a good yard - to leave Shravan and Gautham another 55 runs to score. This seemed like an easy ask while Shravan was at the crease, and he scored at will, stroking 35 from 31. However, he holed out to mid off with just ten required to win. Now things became tense. Gautham and Nasim chipped away at the total as the Sky Sports players increasingly lost their cool at life, the universe and everything (or rather, at the fact that the umpires were unwilling to give them bad decisions). Their fast bowler was bowling quicker - and shouting louder - with every ball, but Gautham in particular was impressively calm. Unfortunately, Nasim went for glory with two to win and got bowled, leaving Fredrik with four balls to survive. A wide brought the scores level, but unfortunately the toe-crusher followed, and he was out plumb in front to leave the scores level. All in all, a thrilling start to the long format season, with many encouraging performances. We have four matches remaining - hopefully, we can go one better next week!

T20 Semi Finals Tomorrow
Tomorrow the men's allsvenskan team will face Ariana in the semi finals of the national T20 tournament in Malmo. Best of luck to the team! Earlier this month, qualification for the semi final was secured via a barnstorming 125 run win over Alby - which was particularly satisfying as Alby had proven to be our nemesis in the T10 competition.

Roundup - Men through to SM-Veckan
Men - T10 After defeating Södertälje by 55 runs (the pick of the performances being 45 runs off 23 to Deepak, and 40 off 19 to Shaurav), DiF faced Söder CC in the final. Batting first, DiF reached the opening pair of Shaurav and Raz put on 40 off the first 3 overs before Shaurav was dismissed for 20 off 11. Raz went on to make 34 off 22, while Shaizeb pitched in with 22 off 10 to set up a total of 115. This looked a good score, but not one that would be beyond the reach of Söder if they got off to a good start. Fortunately, they got off the quite the opposite, and were 22-5 off 3.3 overs. Their middle order rallied to get them close, but ultimately national team heroes Shahzib Chaudry (2-12) and Prashant (2-15) ensured that they fell 10 runs short, Shahzaib winning man of the match to boot. With this, they qualified for SM-Veckan in Umeå. Men - T20 Allsvenskan The Men's Allsvenskan team has been unbeaten since the last roundup, defeating Sikif, Helsingborg and Märsta. Noteworthy performances include Nevan's 66 against SIKIF. Shaurav has been excellent all-round with 76 runs and 7 wickets between the three games. Liam took 4-29 to restrict Märsta in a potentially tight chase, while Prashant's 4-16 kept Helsingborg to a paltry 125. Men - T20 Superettan The Reds registered their first win of the year against Stockholm Tigers, Asim nailing the chase of 139 with his 73 off 44. As he had been unavailable for the previous Allsvenskan game, first teamer Ankit was also able to play and contributed handsomely with 48 runs and 3 wickets. However, these fortunes could not be replicated in the other two matches, against Västerås and Eagles, in spite of a positively heroic 74 off 34 Sesanka made coming in at number 8 against the former. Ladies - T20 In their sole T20 since the last roundup, the ladies scored a crushing victory over Västerås. Gunjan scored a maiden 100, ending on 112 off 57, while Dia made 97 not out off 67 as they scored 261 for the loss of just one wicket. In reply, Västerås fell over 200 runs short as the DiF bowlers dismissed them for 59, the wickets shared around amongst them. Ladies - T10 Unfortunately, Västerås were able to gain revenge over the ladies the very next day in the T10 competition, as DiF's 80 runs (thanks mainly to Gunjan's 31) proved insufficient. However, the ladies remain on course to progress in the competition, having easily defeated Stockholm CC.

Weekly Roundup - Crushing Victory for DiF Ladies
Ladies The ladies were in a hurry to end their game on Saturday. After restricting Stockholm CC to just 25 off 11.2 overs with a fine display of bowling (Monali boasting figures of 3 for 5, Gunjan 2 for 1), they knocked off the runs in just 7 balls, and now boast a net run rate of a whopping 21.04 in the SCL T20 competition. Blandine was player of the match for her 16 runs and one wicket. Youth Report by Benedict, 18th of May U15s took a road trip to Märsta. Ved won the toss and elected to bowl. This paid dividends already in the first over, as he took a neat caught and bowled. However, the next two batsmen settled in and gradually started to put on some runs but not at an exorbitant rate. Ved took the second wicket in the 13th over with the score on 81. The next two wickets fell in quick succession to Arnav Dubey including an excellent catch by stand-in keeper Jhanik. But the next partnership stayed together to the end of the innings, adding 61 runs in the last 5 overs. 144 looked like a doable score but again it would have been better to cut down on the extras. However, batting got off to horrible start with 3 wickets gone already in the first over. And by the 5th over we were already 15-6. However, Arnav Singh the open was still there and started to score freely and put on a nice partnership with Jhanik for the 7th wicket. With his departure, Vir came in and also started to play some nice shots. Unfortunately, Arnav got out soon after for 25. But Vir shepherded the tail and new boy Agarav got his first runs for DIF, before getting out. Next match is versus Botkyrka this Sunday. Hopefully we will be back to full strength. Report by Benedict, 16th of May The first game of the season for U15, against one of the SCC U15 teams took place on Monday evening. DIF won the toss and elected to bowl. While SCC boys were pegged back in the beginning by two stumpings from Rishabh off Ved's bowling, the extras started to mount even though the other bowlers still took wickets, especially Arnav Dubey who took 3 wickets, and Ved shone again with a great catch in the field. In the end, SCC made 160 in the 20 overs but the 43 extras in the end would cost the boys. They started brightly keeping up the run chase, but overs 6-9 saw the rate climb, and four quick wickets did not help the cause either. But Ved and Nethyll started to accumulate runs and suddenly the rate become manageable until Ved got out bowled. Vaibav and Nethyll tried to get as many runs in the final over possible, showing that ones can be turned to twos if you put pressure on the fielders. But in the end, they were 18 runs short of the total. Ved was man of the match with his 3 wickets and 42 runs. Men The men delivered a crushing victory in their opening T10 game on the 12th of May, scoring a walloping 181/1 off their 10 overs. Shaurav Sarkar smashed 94 off 29 with 9 fours and 8 sixes, while Ashik Imtiaz ended on 62 not out, also off 29 balls. YCSA fell well short and ended at 43/8, the wickets shared around. Shahzeb's figures were the standout, with 2 wickets for 2 runs in his 2 overs. Report by Prashant, 6th of May We played our first match against Hammarby today at Granby, Husby. As it was 9 am early morning start, we elected to bowl first after winning toss to utilize the conditions on local Perth-like pitch. Bilal Saleem Ansari, Shaurav Sarkar and Raz Imtiaz made their debuts for DIF today. The innings was started by our bowling spearhead Shahzeb Choudhry along with Bilal Saleem Ansari. They kept the openers in check and later on offspinner Shaurav Sarkar during powerplay capitalize on it and provided us first breakthrough, ended his fabulous spell with 13-2 in 4 overs. He was well supported by Shravan Kannan from another end, who chipped 2 wickets by giving mere 21 runs. One of the other highlights was Sesanka Katuri’s acrobatic fielding efforts, taking 2 run outs and a catch. Later on, I took 3 more wickets and Hammarby folded up at 117. Imtiaz and Shaurav Sarkar opened the batting for us and quickly crossed 50 runs mark within powerplay on a tricky pitch. Raz got out at 41 runs in just 34 balls and replaced by Aritra Bhakat, who was unlucky today and stumped out at nought. Shaurav was joined by our national keeper Wynand Boshoff, who blasted 2 mighty sixes to keep us on track and made 27 runs. We achieved the target in 14.2 overs. Our allrounder Shaurav contributed 35 runs and was the easy choice for MOM. Great win in our first match and hope to continue the same momentum further ahead in T20 and T10.
